Having travelled long haul with 3 children on many occasions, we have first-hand experience of the particular challenge this represents! But if you choose a direct, non-stop flight, and a family friendly resort, then the Maldives are excellent value for money, particularly if travelling during summer holidays when there are plenty of special offers on top of what are already low season prices. The fact that summer is low season owes more to lower demand from Europe and North America than the chance of inferior weather and you will find many resorts much quieter than the Mediterranean.
For added value consider an all inclusive resort, so that your final bill will not be swollen by numerous ice creams and cokes! We can usually pre-arrange seating on scheduled flights, with pre booked children's meals. Furthermore, children under 12 receive a significant discount on scheduled flights. We have avoided the large mass market resorts in selecting our portfolio and we list below a selection of hotels and resorts that are suitable for family holidays.
Listed below are some of our favourite family-friendly holidays in the Maldives, most of which we have visited, so if you would like to have a chat, for example, about where you can purchase nappies, or will your 5 year old cope with the heat, please don't hesitate to call us!

Soneva Fushi is a Maldives resort designed with children in mind as much as the adults. The Den is a playground where the children can explore a pirate ship, two swimming pools, a children’s mocktail bar, lego room, dress-up area, cinema, library, learning area, music room filled with instruments, and a tunnel. A 14-metre channel clad in roots, branches and hidden surprises, it will lead children to gardens filled with flowers, swings and nests tucked into the trees. The Den and its surroundings really is a child’s haven of activities and endless fun. During family time, parents can even head over to the Den with their little one to enjoy their very own shallow pool.
The island itself and the surrounding area is also a natural haven for families as they can get involved in dolphin watching, take a ride on the traditional dhoni sail boat and let the sit astronomer share star-gazing secrets before bedtime!
Soneva Fushi also recommends some other family activities such as father and son picnic and a mother and daughter spa session, cooking class for the family, family picnics to a deserted island and much more.
Perfect for families, Lily Beach caters for family excursions and for kids-only activities to give parents some adult time whilst holidaying in the Maldives.
The Family Beach Villas were designed with much needed family bonding time in mind. Located just steps away from the lagoon, the interconnecting villas offer as much space as families will require throughout their holiday.

This particular resort offers a kids club that is tailored to set age groups, allowing children to mingle with others of a similar age at their stay at One and Only Reethi Rah. From ages 4-9 years, a dedicated team of counsellors entertains children in spaces created just for them with separate dining facilities, arts and crafts, sporting facilities and a pool. Children under the age of 4 are welcome but need to be accompanied by an adult.
As children reach the age of 9-11 it is likely they would prefer a more relaxed alternative to a kids club, which One and Only Reethi Rah has taken note of. Under the discreetly watchful eye of counsellors, OneTribe welcomes tweens to their very own chill out space.
From the age of 12 and upwards there is a more adventurous package of activities available, from competitions to scheduled activities organised by counsellors who give this age group more flexibility and space to mingle with other teenagers. At ClubOne, teens also get refreshing smoothies, shakes and juices as well.
Additionally, professional babysitting services are offered at a nominal fee for babies and toddlers, and convenience items such as bottle warmers are available on request.
