Bequia Beach Hotel is a delightful hotel occupying spacious gardens, with a unique style that combines modern colonial furnishings with 1950s influences and friendly staff who instantly make guests feel at home. The beach feels very natural, while the pool area is a lovely place in which to relax with convenient poolside cabanas providing shade.
There are various accommodation options, from villas with private pools to a family room on the hillside - I would highly recommend upgrading to a Beachfront Suite if budget allows, as these luxurious rooms have wonderful views over the beach and out to sea.
Dining at the hotel is a treat - the Caribbean barbeque buffet evening at Bagatelle Restaurant is a great opportunity to sample local dishes while a live band plays, while breakfast includes a selection of home-baked breads and freshly squeezed fruit juices.
The island itself is utterly charming - small enough to feel typically Caribbean yet large enough for guests to get out and explore the many beautiful beaches and plantations inland. Jack's Beach Bar, a laidback restaurant owned by Bequia Beach Hotel, is well worth a visit for the picturesque views over Princess Margaret Beach and the exceptional food.
