Carlisle Bay is a five star, luxury resort in a sweeping bay on the undeveloped south coast of Antigua against a backdrop of rolling hills and tropical rainforest, perfect for couples and families looking for a chic Caribbean setting.

There are 82 spacious and luxurious suites which have been decorated in a contemporary style, some of which interconnect to cater for families. All suites have at least partial views of the ocean from the private balcony or terrace, many leading directly onto the beach.

Carlisle Bay has four restaurants: East is known and as being one of Antigua's best restaurants and serves a delicious range of Japanese, Thai and Vietnamese dishes; Indigo on the Beach is a barefoot restaurant which is open throughout the day and offers flexible menus for children; The Jetty Bar & Grill is an adults-only option located beside the beach; and Ottimo! is a casual poolside venue with its own wood burning pizza oven, serving Italian fare and a special children's menu. There are also two further bars – Pavilion Bar and the Coconut Grove.

The Blue Spa is an award-winning facility that offers a range of treatments, where guests can relax in the tranquil pavilion which is surrounded by rainforest. Activities available at Carlisle Bay include complimentary non-motorised water sports such as windsurfing, kayaking, snorkeling and sailing, or guests can learn to scuba dive at the PADI dive centre. More leisurely options include yoga and pilates, available as part of a group session or as a private class. Guests can also make use of the nine tennis courts where coaching is also available, go to the gym where personal trainers are on hand, enjoy boat excursions or hike along trails through the rainforest.

Cool Kids Club caters for children aged between 6 months to 6 years every day from 8.30 until 4.15 with a lunch break when families can get together. Crew Blue and Crush organise activities for those aged 7 to twelve, including raft building, zip wiring and visits to Stingray City.

A special feature of Carlisle Bay is its sailing course. The resort has partnered with Ondeck Sailing to offer a new three night sailing break including a three day Royal Yachting Association Start Yachting Course. Aimed at complete novices, this course is an excellent introduction to sailing using a 40ft keelboat and covers the basics of safety, rope work, sail trim, winches, mooring and anchoring with plenty of time at the helm.  Experienced sailors can enjoy the sailing whilst building on their sailing knowledge with good breezes and warm temperatures!

Our Opinion

Didn’t think it was possible to find a 5 star luxury hotel that has the perfect balance between a chic romantic get-away for couples, and a child friendly activity filled hotel for families? Well Carlisle Bay has spent years perfecting this very balance. This hotel is one of the most talked about in the Caribbean for very good reason. The 82 spacious suites scatter along the beautiful curved beachfront, and boast a chic contemporary feel throughout the décor.

I have visited this hotel a couple of times now, and the wow factor never seems to go away! From the very moment you come across the bridge over the immaculate lily pond, you know you are entering a world of extravagance, and are in for an Antigua holiday to leave you speechless. The swanky yet relaxed restaurants will tempt your taste buds on a daily basis, and the new addition of Ottimo is a real hit with the younger guests for lunch, offering traditional Italian pizzas from the wood burning pizza oven.

There are so many things I love about Carlisle Bay, but the thoughtfulness behind every detail of the resort is evident around every corner. Everyone should experience this hotel in their lifetime, from young to old, it will leave you feeling you have experienced a truly sumptuous Caribbean holiday!
